EdTech Leadership

I believe that an Ed Tech Leader has multiple qualities and jobs that define them. However, I will define Ed Tech Leaders as people who can bridge the gap between technology and education in a way that helps others bridge the gap for themselves. Let me explain. An Ed Tech Leader should be able to find new technological resources and weigh them in order to decide if it is right for the classroom. After they decide on the technology resources, they need to have the ability to help other teachers integrate it in their classrooms in a way that is efficient and helpful. These ideas are a main part of the SmartBrief article by Nicholas Provenzano. He says Ed Tech Leaders explore and evaluate tech tools as well as being connected and willing to help. I believe this is an amazing summary of how Ed Tech Leaders bridge the gap between technology and education.

To expand upon what I have said, I want to talk about the specific things an Ed Tech Leader does. First, a leader in ed tech is willing to explore new and exciting ways to make learning better. This means they are willing to stay up to date with new tools and information for the education system. Next, they honestly look at how the technology tool will impact and change the education. They look past all of the bells and whistles of the resource, and they take an honest look at the practicality of the tool and how it will better the education we give to students. Leaders in ed tech are also plugged in to streams of new information in order for them to stay up to date with new information and technologies. Finally, an ed tech leader is willing to say "I don't know" and research questions from others. It is okay not to know something. It is better to say you do not know and find the answer than say you know and give them wrong information. An ed tech leader is willing and determined to stay up to date with new technological tools, and looks at them honestly to better the education we are providing students.


My career goal is to be this person for a school. I want to be the leader that has the ability to find new ways to educate through the use of technology. As a tech coach, I want to discover the new technology tools and bridge the gap between technology and education. I can do this by staying plugged into streams of information such as social media, and helping teachers learn and integrate technology.


In conclusion, an ed tech leader is a person who can bridge the gap between technology and education in a way that helps others bridge the gap for themselves by staying informed on new technology and looking for ways to improve the education in a school.
