YouTube

For this blog post I want to take some time and talk about YouTube. I want to talk about why to use it, how I use it, and talk about some channels to subscribe to for EdTech. I think YouTube is an important tool many of us forget we have or do not know its full potential. It is a helpful tool that can pretty much help you with any problem you have. Why? You should consider using YouTube for a number of reasons. YouTube can be used for you as the teacher or as a help tool for students. If I have a problem or question, I almost always turn to YouTube for the answer. It has quick and concise solutions to so many problems. Instead of spending important time trying to figure out a problem with technology, turn to YouTube for the solution. Obviously learning is important and happens with some struggle. However, when the problem is one that you just need to solve in order to get to more important tasks, YouTube can definitely be that little help you need. How? The question then becomes how to use YouTube. To tackle this question, you need to think about it from two perspectives. One perspective is you as the teacher. You can use YouTube to help with technology problems, learn new skills, and get ideas for lessons. If you are struggling with ideas or problems search YouTube for a quick solution. If you want to tackle the problem yourself and learn how to fix a similar problem in the future, YouTube can teach you the skills to do that. Instead of getting frustrated trying to come up with a solution, try to find your answer in YouTube. As a teacher, you can also be the person giving solutions to students. YouTube can be a great resource for students outside the classroom. If you post help videos for topics discussed in class, students will be able to find solutions outside of class easier. This is the idea for the second perspective; the student. Students who need help when a teacher is not available can turn to YouTube instead of a friend to figure out the problem. Many times students will not only learn how to tackle that specific problem, but they will learn the skills to tackle more problems like the one they turned to YouTube to solve.

YouTube has a number of uses, but these are a few of the ways schools can use this resource. Teachers can turn to YouTube to solve problems, learn new skills, and get new ideas for the classroom. Students can find out-of-school resources, learn new skills, and tackle many problems. I highly recommend diving into YouTube to find solutions quickly and easily.

YouTube Channels If you are looking for YouTube channels to subscribe to, consider Julie Smith: The Techie Teacher, New EdTech Classroom, and Tech Tutorials for Teachers. Julie Smith: The Techie Teacher provides tech solutions and ideas as well as online resources for the classroom. New EdTech Classroom is a channel that deals with everything EdTech. The channel showcases the best educational software as well as simple tips and tricks on how you can get started using technology in the classroom. Finally, Tech Tutorials for Teachers is my personal YouTube channel. I focus on providing tutorials of educational technology as well as tips on using technology in the classroom. These channels all focus on EdTech, but if you want to find other channels to subscribe to, simply search YouTube. You can search for your subject or a problem you need help with. One tip is to check out the channels that create the videos that help you. If the channel helped you before, they might be useful in the future as well. Consider using YouTube the next time you have a problem that needs solving. It is a great resource many teachers do not think to turn to.
